Well, I kinda forgot to write anything for this past week. I've been busy, and by busy I mean tired and lazy. Waking up at 4:30 every morning does take its toll, but I am adjusting to it. I've also felt a lack of inspiration, and for that, I blame myself since I haven't been up to a whole lot outside of work. I get off, come back to my hotel room, and sleep, so not too eventful. For the most part, I'll just tell y'all what I've done other than nap when I get off work.
I've been at the Speakeasy on Main quite a bit, and I seriously love that place. I'm on a first-name basis with the owner and the staff now, so that's been nice. I usually swing by on Friday and Saturday nights since I can sleep in the next day. This past week, they held trivia on Thursday and karaoke on Friday, so I went to both. Wound up being 2nd in trivia, so considering I didn't know as much as I thought I did, it was nice getting 25% off of my tab. Karaoke wasn't as busy as the first time I went, but I am now friends with the DJs and got to see their house, which was stunning. It even had a basement, which allowed me to live out my "stupid white girl in a horror movie" moment. Ultimately, nothing happened, but I can say I went into a basement at night now. They're currently working on renovating the house and I just know it will be beautiful when it's done. Especially the foyer, which was a gaudy lime green color, but has these cute little nooks in the walls on the side. Turns out, this family may be my new best friends because we're all a little nerdy and they knew Texas Country artists. I was ecstatic to finally meet someone here who's heard of Robert Earl Keen, Charlie Robison, and Cory Morrow, to name a few. Back on the topic of karaoke, for those who aren't friends with me on Facebook, I am a qualifier for The Moultrie Voice semifinals! I'm super excited, but I feel like some people may not like me because I'm not from here and I just swooped in and qualified like it was nothing.
This past weekend, I stayed in town for Second Saturday and shopped a bit, which has been hard for me considering I don't dress like the people here do. I've got more of a Western style whereas everyone else wears a lot of dresses and looks like they're participating in Bama Rush Week. I've seen way too many toes for free and it's still weird to me. Other than the different styles, everyone is extremely nice. Southern Hospitality here is no joke, and I'm so grateful for that because I feel welcome anywhere I go. I did manage to find a cute string of faux Navajo pearls and I've snagged a couple of tops that I felt I could make fit into my style. One of them is a little different, but I figure if I'm gonna be in Georgia for a while, I might as well dress the part a little bit. I just won't be wearing a dress like everyone else does. In my opinion, dresses feel like too much, and not all circumstances require dressing up that much.
I'm trying to balance my schedule a bit better so I don't just sleep all the time, but it's a challenge when you're up at 4:30 every morning to go to work in the cold. I've got a few options for things to do outside of work, but it's a short list, so guess I'll have to get started on that. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know because I'm coming up short on ideas for a hobby.
Since I'm not in Texas, the biggest challenge has been not having Texas food. Seriously, every time I have had salsa from somewhere, it's tasted like marinara. Like, where's the flavor? I did manage to find a decent Mexican restaurant so I'll probably be a regular there eventually. I had to explain what a kolache was to someone. Not just a klobasnek, a real kolache. If I could make them, I'd have to convince everyone to try them so they can be exposed to good food. I'm glad to have some chains here to keep me sane, but the local places aren't bad either.
Anyways, that's about it from me for now. If you're one of my friends reading this, know that I miss you so much and can't wait to be back home with y'all. If you're my mom, I miss my boy Cash, and you and Dad too. Perhaps in the future, I'll have more ideas on what to post, but for now, this is it. 'Kay bye!

Sorry my face looks so red, I've accepted that I just look like that. It's also hella hot in the Speakeasy, but I love spending time there, so I don't mind.
