Well. . . contrary to popular belief, I am still here. Since being back home and starting classes again, I've kind of forgotten about this. I may try to keep up with posts, I mean, I bought the damn domain, so I might as well use it. Without the internship posts, I've struggled to identify new topics for my blog, and weekend trips aren't as much of an option since I'm too busy (and poor) to travel anyways. Never fear, I will find some way to entertain the few (if any) viewers of my posts and I can start swearing now that I don't have a professor reading my blog all the time. Of course, it will be in good taste, so if you have good taste, you won't mind. For now, let's just discuss some things I've been up to since being done in Georgia.
NOLA trip w/ my bestie boo:
For those that aren't aware, Georgia is far away from Texas, and you're crazy if you think I'm doing a 12-hour drive in one day, or alone. Sooooo, my best friend flew in and rode back with me. We spent my last weekend in Moultrie together and then drove to New Orleans for a little girls'/birthday trip to break up the drive. Because I drive like a demon from Hell, we got there a little early, so we couldn't check in to our Airbnb, however, there was a sushi restaurant nearby and y'all know we love sushi, so we stopped and got a lil snack. I don't remember what we even ordered, but I know it was good. If I recall correctly, I'm pretty sure we just got to the house we were staying at and just watched a couple of movies that night and doordash-ed some food. Listen, ya girl is literally obsessed with Doordash and I think it might be becoming a problem.

Regardless, we went out the next day for a pirate tour at 10:00 because we thought we would beat the heat. We were wrong, but that's fine. Like many of the tours in New Orleans, we started at a bar, and of course, we got drinks. Since she had just turned 21, we could both drink and since it was New Orleans, we could start at 10:00 am with no judgment. My friend asked the bartender if it was normal to start drinking that early, and her response was, "Yeah, this is New Orleans, that's all we do." Or something along those lines. Anyway, we did our little tour, which was great and I highly recommend checking it out if you ever visit, stopped at a bar halfway through and I met a cat that I wanted to steal and take with me.

Ultimately, I didn't take the cat, but I did pet him (I checked if it was a male or female don't cancel me). After finishing the tour, we got lunch at this little diner, I think it was Clover Grill but I don't 100% remember. After that, we had a while until our Movie and TV Show Tour which covered places where various things were filmed. As an avid user of retail therapy, we stopped into a few places and finally found one that had all these costume jewels and tiaras, so you know what I did? I bought a damn tiara and wore it for the rest of the day. Strangely, I was only asked if I was married once, but I'm sure people there are used to strange things. On the Movie and TV tour, I got to fake stab my best friend, for the purpose of reenacting a movie scene, I didn't just do it for shits and giggles. Basically, we did the tours, hopped around some bars, and I didn't even get drunk. I'm not upset about that because I still had so much fun and I knew I would finally be back home the next day. Before leaving, we had to get Cafe du Monde, but we went to the location in City Park since it was closer and hardly crowded. Finally, we made it back home and I finally got to see my parents' house completed. Then, I slept in my own bed for the first time in over 3 months which was heavenly. Sure it was nice to have a king-sized bed, but sleeping with my dog again beats that any day.
Last semester (Whoop!):
Well folks, it's my last semester of college, and frankly, I'm ready to be done. Since I was a smart cookie, I'm only enrolled in 2 classes so I have more free time to work or do whatever I want. The only downside is that one of them has a 3-hour lab time where we're just sitting around in the basement of Kleberg trying to stay sane. Other than that, my other class is one I'm greatly looking forward to because I will be AI-certified by the end of it, so my arm will be going into a lot of cow butts this year. Being AI-certified means that I can finally convince my dad to let me artificially inseminate our cattle and improve genetics. He says that the bulls we have are fine, and they are, but if we keep using the same bulls, the herd's genetics won't be improving because it'll all be the same. Also, I only have classes 2 days per week so I get plenty of time for myself. Now for something my fellow Aggies will relate to: the closure of Lot 61. Seriously, TAMU? There are already issues with parking so I'm not sure how closing an entire lot is helping. I had some good times in Lot 61, mostly just jamming out by myself, but hey, that's fun for me. Now that I've been switched over to Lot 74, with less shade and narrower spots, it has been iffy. Fortunately, I can just park at the back with all of the other trucks and it's fine, but I miss my homie Lot 61.
Another thing I've done is I went back to my old job at REDACTED because I missed it and they wouldn't have to train someone new. You may be wondering why I put REDACTED and that's because someone could stalk me and come find me at work even though I post about it on Snapchat all the time. At least on Snap, I know who is seeing it and I can control who is allowed to see it, but on here, anybody could just look up my blog and find where I work. #creepy. Also, don't stalk people and show up at their work unannounced, especially if you won't be a welcome guest. I have had that happen after I was already having a rough day, which should have been a massive red flag, but I happen to be colorblind when it comes to the male species.

On the topic of football, I have only been able to go to one home game so far (I know, disappointing) because I've had other plans and had to be out of town. Going to the ULM game was fun and I had a great group with me which made it better. I obviously didn't sneak in alcohol because I love paying way too much for a beer. *wink* We also kind of lucked out because we were in the shade the whole time so we didn't get super hot or sunburnt. It also helped that it was rainy that day so it wasn't super bright out anyways. We got into Kyle Field maybe an hour late due to lightning delays, so we waited it out in the MSC. Speaking of the MSC, I wore my cowboy hat that day so I actually got to do the whole remove cover thing when I walked in and it felt so amazing to finally have a hat on when I went inside. Maybe that's just me because for most people, it's less important and they always wear hats, but I've hardly been in the MSC since I've moved off campus so I haven't had a chance to remove a hat before going inside. For those who don't know, we BTHO ULM so it was a great day in my book.

Another thing I did was go to my first Midnight Yell with some friends and we had a grand old time. Since I drove, they all wanted to ride in the bed, and much like our dear friend Preminger says, "How could I refuse?" Since Coors Light is now the main beer for Aggie Football, they had a big display outside Kyle Field and I just had to take a picture because Coors has my whole heart. Well, and someone else currently, but that won't be discussed here. On the way back, one of my friends did ride in the cab with me and Whiskey Lullaby came on so we got in our feels and started jamming despite what the folks in the back thought. At the end of the night, we all made it home and got some rest for the next day. I went to Ticket Pull for this game but wasn't able to go to the game due to prior engagements, so I got to sleep in a little more. Don't worry, I fully plan on being back to BTHO Bama here soon.
Disclaimer: I do try to acknowledge red flags in men, but I tend to ignore them anyway. It all depends on the situation and how stupid I'm feeling that day.
Family Trip to Galveston:
Who doesn't love a poorly planned, impromptu trip to the beach? And spending it with some of my favorite people was just *chef's kiss*. We got to all hang out and bring the dogs to play in the water so they loved it just as much. I also was rushed so I forgot most of the snacks, but that's okay because we still had plenty and even picked up pizza. We even bought tamales from a lady walking on the beach, which was a bad idea, but they were good.

We pretty much just hung out and even did a round of Rattlin' Bog, which I actually survived. I enjoyed having that time with my friends/family where we could all relax and have a good time. Later in the afternoon, some guys pulled up and set up a few fishing poles, like the kind where one of them has to use a kayak to put the bait out. This led to the same guy yelling at us that there was a big shark nearby, so we, being normal people, got the hell out. I think I only went back in the water one more time and that was with my dog who doesn't go far because he likes being able to touch the ground. I literally tried carrying him out further, but he'd just be like "Nope" and go back to the tent.
At the end of the day, we stopped for dinner, drove back, and pretty much went straight to sleep as soon as we got home. The drive back was nice because there was less traffic, but I still had to go through Houston (ew) with a big ass truck so that was real fun. Cash just slept in the back seat the whole time so he was unphased whenever I would get stressed out. Parts of I-45 were under construction so they had these big concrete barriers up, but they were really close to the lane, leaving no shoulder, so I tried to stay in the middle lane as much as possible because if I even barely swerved, I thought I was going to hit one.

The best part about the drive back was that I didn't even get to go straight home because I had to go pick up a sports pass from a friend and we talked for a little bit and Cash got some attention. In the morning, I eventually went to ticket pull around 9 and we still got decent seats for the ULM game, which I literally just talked about.

Well, that's pretty much it, I've done other things like visit Austin and San Marcos, oh, and I had a birthday so that was fun. I'm one of those people who really doesn't need to do much for my birthday, so being around friends was really all I needed. I even went to Ticket Pull for the Auburn game that I wasn't even going to, but I wanted to be with my bestie and camp out. Like Joe Walsh says, "Life's been good." I've been trying to chill out more and spend more time on myself lately since I have more of an open schedule this semester, so I think that's helping. Anyway, that's all for now folks, I'll be back at some point with something new to talk about that maybe isn't just about my life for once, because I can only talk about myself so much.
T's and G's,
Rileigh
